Fatigue is a common feeling that people experience during a busy week. With so many tasks to be accomplished during the week, people can easily lose track of their sleep. This can also prompt burnout. There are several ways that a person can handle fatigue. People can combat fatigue by exercising, staying hydrated and getting rest.
There are many reasons why fatigue can occur. According to Cleveland Clinic, fatigue can occur due to a disorder, lifestyle factors or various types of medication. Tiredness is something that can be temporary or be a chronic condition. A chronic condition refers to a condition that lasts for six months or longer. Tiredness can be addressed through diet adjustments, medications and other ways. It is also recommended that people contact their healthcare provider if they have an underlying medical condition that is creating the fatigue.
One of these solutions involves being active. According to WebMd, physical exercise can increase a person’s energy. It is also something that is linked to an enhancement in a person’s well-being. People who are engaged tend to have a greater sense of self-assurance. Exercise also helps people’s internal organs by boosting the productivity of the heart, muscles and lungs. This provides people with more energy for other activities they may have to do as well.
Another way to deal with tiredness is to stay hydrated. When a person is dehydrated, their energy levels can decrease and their physical performance can suffer. It is also something that can impact an athlete’s weightlifting performance. It is also logical to conclude that dehydration can create fatigue for people who are doing chores. A lack of hydration has been known to lessen a person’s concentration and attentiveness.
Another way to deal with fatigue is to go to bed earlier. If a person is not able to get a full night of sleep, they can take a nap. The nap should only be brief. Napping is something that can help people stay awake and may encourage learning. However, napping for longer than 30 minutes can create issues when a person attempts to sleep at night.
When a person has attempted to combat fatigue by addressing the causes, and there is little to no progress, an appointment should be made with a doctor. According to Healthline, if the symptoms last two or more weeks, an appointment is warranted. Symptoms that are also concerning include a higher body temperature, weight loss that is not intentional, and a sensitivity to lower temperatures. Some cases are a result of a medical condition in terms of fatigue. It is recommended that a person should go to the doctor if they experience fatigue and symptoms including an irregular heartbeat, shortness of breath, chest pain, vomiting blood or feeling faint.
Ultimately, fatigue can be challenging to deal with. It is something that many people experience in their everyday lives. People can combat tiredness in a multitude of ways. It is also important to reach out to a healthcare provider if your fatigue does not improve or continues to get worse.
