Saturday, Nov. 9 was a banner day for La Salle University’s Homecoming weekend. Explorers from several graduating classes returned to campus to reconnect with friends, celebrate and show their La Salle pride along with our current students, staff, faculty and families. Crisp fall weather set the tone for a weekend filled with activities for all ages, including events on the quad, a young alumni happy hour, Breakfast with the Brothers and much more!

Women’s Basketball kicked off our doubleheader with a win against University of Delaware at 12 p.m.. This was their first win of the season, with the final score being 68-54 at the newly renovated John Glaser Arena. Men’s Basketball followed playing Lafayette at 3:30 p.m., ending the last half with a win 81-60. This was the first ever sellout game at John Glaser Arena, with 3,001 fans in the crowd. La Salle Athletics came forward with a statement on Instagram after the clean sweep stating, “Thank you, fans. Thank you, students. Atmosphere in Glaser was simply electric today.”

The Explorers Express food truck served snacks to those looking for something quick before the game. After the game, families headed over to Deke’s BBQ to enjoy a post-game happy hour with family, friends and alumni. Saturday’s festivities ended with a show hosted by The Masque theater group entitled “Mavericks.” The one-act plays were student-led, directed and produced by an amazing group of passionate students. Various posts on the Fizz social app asserted that Mavericks was indeed a success.

Hundreds of people participated in this year’s La Salle Homecoming and Family Weekend, marking the biggest celebration this semester. The weekend was a testament to the fact that no matter how far Explorers go, they’ll always have a place to call home at 20th and Olney.
