Kanye West is banned from performing at the Grammy Awards

            According to The Blast, rapper Kanye West’s team has received a phone call that he will no longer be in the lineup of performers at the 2022 Grammy Awards due to his “online behavior.” This announcement has come after the “Eazy” rapper’s recent 24-hour suspension from Instagram for using a racial slur towards comedian and television host Trevor Noah. Ye became angered with Noah for showing support for Kim Kardashian, Ye’s ex-wife. Noah, who is hosting the upcoming annual award ceremony, referred to the rapper’s behavior towards Kardashian as “belligerent.” Ye is being nominated for five Grammy awards, including album of the year.

Rachel Zegler says she was not initially invited to the Oscars

            Actress Rachel Zegler surprised fans when she took to social media to share that she did not receive an invitation to the 94th Academy Awards despite her starring role in the film, “West Side Story,” which is being nominated for Best Picture. After this revelation took the internet by storm, The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences decided to invite Zegler to the Oscars. She is also being asked to be a presenter. The 20-year-old actress is currently in London shooting “Snow White,” but accommodations will be made in the shooting schedule in order to allow her to attend.

“The Bachelor” makes history twice in one night

            ABC’s hit reality show “The Bachelor” aired its season finale and history was made twice during its two-hour time slot. For the first time in the show’s history, the bachelor was rejected by the final woman. As a result of the rejected proposal, the leading man, Clayton Echard, walked away broken-hearted. However, Echard and the contestant who rejected him, Susie Evans, reconnected after the show and are now dating. The second historical event took place on the “After the Final Rose” special, which aired right after the season finale. For the first time in the show’s history, it has been announced that the next season of “The Bachelorette” will feature two women, as they will star alongside one another and find love on the same journey. These two women, Gabby Windey and Rachel Recchia, were finalists on Echard’s season of “The Bachelor.”

“The Adam Project” is trending on Netflix

            Top trending on the streaming platform is the Netflix original film “The Adam Project.” Directed by Shawn Levy, this sci-fi/adventure tells the story of a time traveler, Adam Reed, who is from the year 2050. He tries to go back to the year 2018, but accidentally lands in the year 2022 instead. Here, he comes face-to-face with his 12-year-old self. The big Adam and the little Adam, who are complete opposites, must put their differences aside in order to team up and save the future. “The Adam Project” is rated PG-13 and stars Ryan Reynolds, Walker Scobell, Mark Ruffalo, Jennifer Garner and Zoe Saldaña.

Number one on the Billboard charts: week of Mar. 26, 2022

According to “The Hot 100” on the charts, the number one song in the U.S. is “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals. During its 61st week on the charts, this alternative/indie song remains at the top spot for the third week in a row. According to the “Billboard 200,” the number one album in the U.S. is “7220” by Lil Durk. This hip-hop/rap album is at the top spot during its first week on the charts.

Drake loses over a quarter of a million dollars in a bet

Rapper Drake lost $275,000 after betting that Jorge Masvidal would beat Colby Covington at UFC 272. Drake lost the bet because Covington won the fight. After the fight, Covington took the mic. He said, “Let’s talk about all the money that Drake lost tonight,” before calling his music a derogatory term. Despite this, one positive thing from this experience was that Masvidal, who was an underdog heading into the fight, took to Twitter to offer Drake a free dinner the next time he is in Miami.

“The Bachelor” airs new episodes two nights in a row

ABC’s “The Bachelor” aired its “Women Tell All” episode on its usual Monday night time slot. Here, the women who were eliminated from bachelor Clayton Echard’s season reunited on stage. They confronted the villain from the season, Shanae. The ladies also expressed their hurt and disappointment to Clayton. The following night, the “Fantasy Suites” episode aired. Viewers were surprised to see Clayton unexpectedly say goodbye to a front-running contestant after they got into an argument over his previous overnight dates with the other two women.

Kelly Clarkson pays tribute to Dolly Parton at the ACM Awards

The 57th Academy of Country Music Awards was recently held in Las Vegas. One of the most notable performances of the night was pop singer Kelly Clarkson’s tribute to country music legend Dolly Parton. The “American Idol” alum sang “I Will Always Love You,” a song that was originally written and performed by Parton. The audience was moved, as Clarkson received a standing ovation. Parton then walked onto the stage and embraced Clarkson before telling the crowd, “I was backstage trying not to cry my false eyelashes off.”

“The Weekend Away” is trending on Netflix

The new film “The Weekend Away” is trending on the streaming platform Netflix. Starring Leighton Meester and Christina Wolfe, this thriller tells the story of two female friends named Beth and Kate who take a girls’ trip together to Croatia. After Kate tragically vanishes, Beth is investigated and named as a suspect. As Beth frantically races to figure out what really happened to her friend, she discovers something unsettling. “The Weekend Away” is rated TV-14.

According to “The Hot 100” on the charts, the number one song in the U.S. is “Heat Waves” by Glass Animals. During its 59th week on the charts, this alternative/indie song is at the top spot for the first time. According to the “Billboard 200,” the number one album in the U.S. is Disney’s “Encanto” Soundtrack. At the top spot for the eighth time, this is the 14th week the Latin pop film score is on the charts.

Prinz von Anhalt changes his mind after adopting adult son

            The German-American prince and widower of socialite Zsa Zsa Gábor, Frédéric Prinz von Anhalt, has decided that he does not want his adopted son, Kevin Feucht, after the show they were going to be featured in, “Adults Adopting Adults,” got canceled. According to TMZ, the wealthy prince, who has no biological children, decided to adopt the 27-year-old in order to carry on his royal lineage. In exchange for the wealth Feucht would inherit, he must cook and do house chores. However, after the new A&E series was dropped, the prince wants to reverse the adoption. He is now looking to adopt an adult woman.

Kanye West is dating a Kim Kardashian look-alike

            Rapper Kanye West has been spending time with a woman that looks very similar to his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. The look-alike is a 24-year-old social media influencer named Chaney Jones. Not only does Jones have an almost identical physique, hair and face as Kardashian, but she also wears similar clothes and accessories. According to Cosmopolitan, the pair have been hanging out frequently over the past few weeks, and have recently become Instagram official.

Amanda Seyfried stars as Elizabeth Holmes in new original series

            In the new drama miniseries, “The Dropout,” actress Amanda Seyfried takes on the leading role as the notorious Elizabeth Holmes. The real-life Holmes, who was once named by Forbes as the youngest self-made woman billionaire, is a former CEO who is now in prison for fraud. In this series, Seyfried portrays the powerful rise and dramatic downfall of the founder of Theranos, which was a fraudulent private health technology company. “The Dropout” premieres Mar. 3 on Hulu and Disney+.

Netflix releases, “Cat Burglar,” an interactive short

            The streaming platform, Netflix, has released an interactive short film titled “Cat Burglar.” Recreating a vintage cartoon, the storyline follows Rowdy, a cat who wishes to steal a highly valuable painting from an art museum. However, in order to be successful, he must defeat the guard dog, Peanut. The viewer decides whether Rowdy will be successful, or fail, based on their answers to trivia questions. If the viewer gets all of the trivia questions right, Rowdy moves on to the next level and becomes closer to stealing the art. If the questions are answered incorrectly, the cat dies and the film starts over.

Kelly Clarkson files to legally change her name

            Pop singer and television host Kelly Clarkson has filed paperwork to legally change her name to Kelly Brianne. Dropping her maiden last name, the “Stronger” singer requests to use her first and middle names only. This decision comes amid her on-going and bitter divorce from her husband of nearly seven years, Brandon Blackstock. According to Us Weekly, the “American Idol” winner wants to change her name because it “more fully reflects” who she is. A hearing to decide on the matter is scheduled to take place on March 28.

Sam Hunt’s pregnant wife files for divorce

            Country singer Sam Hunt and his wife Hannah Lee Fowler are splitting after nearly five years of marriage. In legal documents obtained by TMZ, Fowler has cited “adultery” and “inappropriate marital conduct” as the reasons why she is seeking a divorce from Hunt. Although the pair have not made a pregnancy announcement, the documents state that Fowler is due in May. She is asking for primary custody and child support.

“Arthur” has come to an end after 25 seasons

            The popular PBS Kids show, “Arthur,” ends after 25 seasons and over 250 episodes. Based on a book series by author and illustrator Marc Brown, this cartoon show is centered around the daily life of a young aardvark named Arthur. Each episode follows his daily adventures and the challenges he faces with his friends, who are different animal species. In the final episode, “All Grown Up,” the main characters are shown as adults. Arthur sports a dark hairstyle, facial hair and a new outfit. He is happy with his career as a graphic novelist. According to Buzz Feed, “Arthur” is the longest-running children’s animated series in television history.

 “Cyrano” will hit theaters on Feb. 25

            The new musical romantic drama film, “Cyrano,” is an adaptation of the classic 1897 play, “Cyrano de Bergerac,” and tells the story of a talented poet named Cyrano who is in love with a young woman named Roxanne. He never tells her his feelings because he believes she will never love him back. Instead, he painfully watches Roxanne admire a young man, named Christian, from afar. Since Cyrano cares about Roxanne’s happiness, he helps the inarticulate Christian win her love by offering his poetic skills. Starring Peter Dinklage, “Cyrano” will be released in theaters across the country on Feb. 25 and is rated PG-13.

Kanye West demands an apology from Billie Eilish

            At her recent concert, pop singer Billie Eilish stopped her show to make sure a distressed fan in the audience got the medical help they needed. Eilish told the crowd, “I wait for people to be okay until I keep going.” Rapper Kanye West believed she was making a reference to Travis Scott and the Astroworld tragedy, so he took to social media to demand she apologize. West has threatened to pull out of Coachella unless Scott receives an apology.

Super Bowl LVI halftime show makes history, featuring all rap, R&B and hip-hop performers

            At the Super Bowl LVI halftime show, rappers Snoop Dogg, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar took the stage. In addition to these rappers, R&B artist Mary J. Blige also performed. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre opened with their hit “The Next Episode.” They also performed Dr. Dre and 2Pac’s “California Love.” 50 Cent was then shown performing upside down as he took on his hit “In Da Club.” Mary J. Blige danced and sang her hit song “Family Affair.” Kendrick Lamar then performed “Alright” with backup dancers. After that, Eminem took on his hit “Lose Yourself.” The set consisted of a row of white connecting houses with classic cars parked outside and represented Compton landmarks.

Jim Carrey reprises “The Cable Guy” role in Super Bowl commercial

            During Super Bowl LVI, comedian and actor Jim Carrey starred in a Verizon commercial. Carrey returned as his famous character, Chip Douglas, from the 1996 satire film “The Cable Guy.” In this ad, Douglas obnoxiously tries to sell a woman cable but finds that she does not need his service because she has Verizon 5G internet. When he checks for himself, he is hilariously surprised that her fast service is wireless.

Channing Tatum stars in “DOG”

            Starring actor Channing Tatum, “DOG” is a buddy comedy film that tells the story of a former army ranger, Jackson Briggs, who is looking to return to the military in order to become his best self again. However, he must first perform one specific task. Briggs must drive Lulu, a military dog, to the funeral of her fallen owner. This task is challenging because she is very ferocious. However, while Briggs and Lulu are on the road, they start to bond. “DOG” is rated PG-13 and will arrive in theaters Feb. 18.
